Introduction To Research

Program Overview

Our Intro Research Programs are a good way to get a foot in the door on science and give students the opportunity to see what working with our scientists is like before signing up for a full semester research experience.

Our intro research programs are designed to give students a taste of different aspects of research such as:

  • field techniques
  • scientific literacy
  • question asking

Check each semester for our new offerings.

Our research programs are a great way to see if you are interested in scientific research!

Fall 2021 Field Days

Opportunities to explore the outside world and engage in science are critical for students, especially after a year’s worth of zoom learning. This fall, Headwaters Science Institute is excited to announce Fall Field Days! Thank you to our sponsors these days are completely FREE to any students in the greater Truckee/Tahoe/Reno area.

These days will take place entirely outside, in partnership with the Truckee Donner Land Trust. Students will have the chance to increase analytical and critical thinking skills by learning to problem solve in the field and learning to interpret data, learn more about our local environment, understand more about the scientific process, and make connections to local scientists while learning about careers in science.
