Headwaters Digital Lesson Offerings
Developing curriculum and lessons to tackle the toughest challenges in science education is our area of expertise. We are dedicated to making sure students and teachers have access to engaging and meaningful science education while schools are closed.

Monday: Weekly Science Lesson @ 9 a.m. PST
- 30-minute video science lesson with homework and pre-lesson assignments.
- Lessons will work as a stand-alone piece but will follow a similar theme for several weeks.
- Lessons are designed to have students interact with the content, ask questions, and practice critical thinking skills.
- Students will be encouraged to submit their work to us and we will regularly share strong submissions.
Students and families strongly interested in regular feedback should join our Google Classroom. This option is open to anyone looking to regularly submit assignments and interact with our teachers. Tuesday: Live “Lunch with a Scientist” talks @11 a.m. PST on Facebook Live
Each week Headwaters will introduce you to a new scientist via a live video on social media. Our talented graduate students and instructors will talk about their own personal research projects and why they love science.
Wednesday: Office Hours @11 a.m. and 3 p.m. PST on Google Hangouts
From 11-12 students will be able to join and get help with their science assignments. Headwaters staff will also run an educator office hour from 3-4 for teachers looking for help with their science instruction. Student office hour from 11-12. Educator office hour from 3-4.
Thursday: Weekly mini-challenge @ 9 a.m. PST
Join us for mini activities and fun challenges. Share your work using #HSIweeklychallenge on social media.
Friday: Fun Science Fridays @ 9 a.m. PST
We’ll share activities that keep you moving through the outdoors around your house. Use #HSIobservers to share your findings with us on social media.
Long Term Projects – Virtual Science Fair
Students are offered the option to build off of our weekly science lessons and create their own independent scientific investigation. We can provide materials to facilitate these multi-week science projects and offer students the chance to submit their work to our virtual science fair where students from across the country will digitally submit projects.
