Congratulations – Meg Seifert Celebrated with Soroptimist of Truckee Donner Women of Distinction Award
- May 2, 2023 -

We are proud to announce that our Executive Director, Meg Seifert, was awarded the Soroptimist of Truckee Donner Women of Distinction Award!

For the past 25+ years, Soroptimist International of Truckee Donner has honored a local woman who is worthy of special recognition for making outstanding contributions over a period of 10 years, with at least five of those years being directly in the community. This is also a woman recognized by her peers and by the people with whom she comes in contact as being a woman of exemplary character and integrity.  She demonstrates leadership qualities and is an ideal “role model” for other women.

Meg was nominated for her work with Headwaters empowering youth, especially, girls and women in STEM, and her work running the kids Nordic Ski programs at the Auburn Ski Club a nonprofit ski program with a focus on winter sports access for everyone. They also recognized for her numerous volunteer efforts in the Truckee area like coaching girls youth soccer, and volunteering with the Humane Society. The awards speech was given by Nancy Wallis who also commented that she isn’t sure when Meg has time to sleep!

Meg replied by saying that she couldn’t get it all done without the help and support of her family, friends, and colleagues. She is so lucky to work with a great team at Headwaters.

And all of the awards night attendees and Soroptimist of Truckee Donner members highlighted the great work that Headwaters does with programs across the country. Especially in Truckee/Tahoe, where many Headwaters programs are hosted, we provide lots of opportunities for girls to get involved in STEM and see fantastic role models like Meg involved in science.

Meg continues to inspire our team and we are honored to have her recognized for the hard work and dedication she has provided to girls and women in STEM! Congratulations Meg!
